Police say on Tuesday, they responded to a theft in progress at Walmart. Officers were told that the alleged thief was driving away.
Police say the driver was going on Highway 14 at speeds in excess of 90MPH, continuing to Highway 143, where the car turned. Police say the driver went into the oncoming traffic lane several times, forcing other drivers to take evasive action to avoid a wreck. A short time later, police say someone called 911 to say the driver turned onto Violet Lane, which is a dead-end road. Police found the car, which had been abandoned near a vacant home.
