The death toll from an air strike that hit a prison run by Yemen’s Houthi rebels climbs to at least 82, rebels and aid group say
The latest escalation of fighting was the most intense since the 2018 battle for Yemeni port city of Hudaida.
Ahmed Mahat, head of Doctors Without Borders, a charity mission in Yemen, said on Saturday that more than 265 were wounded in the air strike. Internet access in the Arab world’s poorest country meanwhile remained largely down as the coalition continued air strikes on the capital of Sanaa and elsewhere.
The conflict pits the internationally recognised government, aided by the Saudi-led coalition, against the Iranian-backed rebels.
