People have been paying their respects following the collision in Calverton Road
Arnold residents have said a crash in which a motorcyclist died has left the community "shaken up". The rider - a man in his 40s -was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision in Calverton Road just before 7pm on Monday .
He lives in Arnold, however, he heard about the collision via the news. "Apparently people have been putting flowers out all morning," he said. Alison, 59, is another person who says she has felt the sadness in the local community. She said: "There's been lots of tributes and posts on Facebook this morning and it was definitely a shock "Nobody expects, and nobody can really expect, that kind of thing to just happen. It's bound to upset people."The road was closed for several hours between Surgeys Lane and Church Lane while investigation work took place.
Another local resident added: "We first heard about the accident on the news. It sounded really awful. We're praying something like that doesn’t happen again any time soon. It’s really distressing to hear and it will be a blow to the community I’m sure.”
