Friendships are not always cut and dried.
They have different elements and angles. In other words, they are not all the same, with each friendship having it’s own purpose and limitations.
Let me also say some friends are not “friends.” They are “associates” who you periodically interact with and share some good times. Some true friends are not necessarily close, but you have a connection. Others are your best friends, who are more intimate and trusting. Think about which category the person at the party may be.
Someone once told me she has friends who go out with her, friends who share other deeper interests with her, and friendships where they confide in each other. They are all her friends but represent differences in each other’s lives. This person could very well be a true friend, but not necessarily your best friend. No one tells anyone everything. She may have just needed some time with other friends. Don’t look at it as a dis, but everyone living their own lives.
