Border patrol agents recovered the floating bodies of three different men in the Rio Grande within a four-hour span, according to a news release by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

It’s been a particularly deadly year for migrants who are often fleeing desperate conditions in their home countries to come to the United States. In late June, 53 migrants wereHigh numbers of migrants making their way to the U.S. has contributed to death tolls. In June 2022, the Del Rio sector became the first region of the Texas-Mexico border with more encounters than any other. The sector’s border arrests continued to grow in July to roughly 50,000, even though overall border encounters decreased month-to-month.
