Fallen trees, near misses and severe flooding hit the region
High winds and rain hit Merseyside today causing a series of dramatic incidents across the five boroughs.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “We are immensely relieved that the two Green Sefton officers present in the van were unharmed after what could have been a serious accident. A 1.1km sea wall was built in West Kirby between April 2022 and finished in September 2023, with a final budget of £19.7m, to protect seafront properties in West Kirby from flooding. Gaps can usually be seen along the wall to allow access to the town’s promenade but these areas are gated off when there is high risk of flooding.
Hannah doesn't know when the café will be able to reopen. She added: "The good news is the main café is dry but the store rooms are flooded, but I will know more tomorrow."
