Smyth cut his teeth in the Irish League with Linfield before earning a move across the water back in 2017
David Healy hailed the performance of Paul Smyth in Saturday's Euro qualifier against San Marino - even though the diminutive forward's goal celebrations still put the fear into him.
Healy recalls how he warned Smyth about the celebration during the player's time at Linfield, fearing the 26-year-old would end up injuring himself.Talking on Viaplay Sports, Healy said: "I did say to him there about that mad celebration. I know going back a few years ago, LuaLua got injured in one of Portsmouth's games and Harry Redknapp banned him from doing it.
Smyth cut his teeth at LInfield before earning a big move to QPR back in 2017. He made his Northern Ireland debut the following year, scoring the winner against South Korea. His performances for Orient earned Smyth a return to QPR in the summer, and he has now worked his way back into Northern Ireland contention.
