David Harbour reflects on StrangerThings coming to an end, admitting he's actually excited: 'There’s so many other things which I wanna do and at the same time, it's my favorite character that I’ve ever played...'

David Harbour reveals that he is excited for Stranger Things to come to an end, calling Jim Hopper his favorite character that he's ever played. Created by the Duffer brothers, Stranger Things has welcomed new audiences with each new season, leading this summer's release of season 4 to break the U.S. streaming record for Netflix.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Harbour has starred in Stranger Things from the very start, and with the show now set to conclude with season 5, the star has opened up about how it feels to be officially retiring from the role of Jim Hopper. Speaking with Phase Zero podcast, Harbour shares that he's "excited for it to be the end" as he is looking forward to doing other things. Check out Harbour's full quote below.

That’s a hard question to answer because I’m excited for it to be the end because I’m excited to do other things. There’s so many other things which I wanna do and at the same time, it's my favorite character that I’ve ever played and those guys, the Duffer brothers, are my favorite guys and they make my favorite stuff. So, of course, it has a real sadness to it.

It's worth noting, however, that the Duffer brothers have previously discussed plans for a future Stranger Things spinoff, which would be set within the same universe as the series. Shooting down rumors that the show would focus on Steve and Dustin, or even just Eleven alone, the Stranger Things creators confirmed that the spinoff, which is believed to be in its early stages of development, would be "1000% different" from Stranger Things.

Harbour's complicated emotions towards Stranger Things coming to end are understandable, given that he has starred in the role of Hopper for more than 6 years now and is likely keen to shed the commitment that comes with this project.
