The Coronation of King Charles III next year is also expected to be a Bank Holiday
The dates for bank holidays in the UK have now been confirmed for next year, 2023. 2022 was a bumper year for the day-long holiday, with an extra two laid on for the Platinum Jubilee and funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. And next year could see another Royal rest day thanks to the anticipated public holiday for King Charles III's coronation.
They also include traditional seasonal events such as Christmas, Easter and New Years. Typically, most shops and schools shut, places of work close down and public transport is reduced.Employers are not forced to give workers paid leave on bank or public holidays and they can affect how and when benefits such as Universal Credit are paid.
Yorkshire Live have put together a list of all the confirmed bank holidays in the UK for 2022 and 2023. As is tradition, when a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a substitute weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday.
