Some news outlets reported that Slay was cut on Wednesday and it did appear to be headed there, but that all changed late in the evening.
Well, Slay, who was in on 55 tackles with three interceptions and 14 passes defensed last season, asked for a contract extension. The Eagles balked at that idea and gave him permission to seek a trade. When the 32-year-old and the team couldn’t find a partner on a deal there, reports were that the Eagles were moving to cut him loose.
But, somehow, Roseman appears to have pulled what would have been an unexpected loss — again he was under contract — out of the ditch during a week in which the team has suffered some expected but still brutal losses on the defensive side.His wife, Jennifer Slay, who had previously tweeted her goodbyes to Philadelphia, tweeted, too.Eagles receiver AJ Brown celebrated because, he revealed, Jennifer makes banana pudding for the team on Fridays.
