The 'Harry Potter' star spoke out against Rowling's Tweets on gender identity.
"Transgender women are women," wrote Radcliffe, clearly stating his position on the matter. "Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I."
Radcliffe noted how 78% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being the subject of discrimination due to their gender identity, and how invalidation of their identities contributes to that harm. In the case of Rowling's comments, not all those who identify as women are capable of menstruating, thus excluding trans women. Her comments also exclude trans men.
