, who was principal conductor at the Met for six years, the event raised money for the Met Orchestra Musicians Fund and the Dallas-Fort Worth Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Met Opera musicians were furloughed without pay for almost a year during the company’s pandemic-caused shutdown. Some were forced to move out of New York City or consider selling their beloved instruments,The DSO made a video recording of the Mahler performances using robotic cameras stationed throughout the Meyerson. With these cameras, the orchestra launched, generating tens of thousands of views from over 100 countries around the globe.
The TV program, which also included behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with musicians, has been aired by public television stations across America since October.
