The Dallas Stars will employ general manager Jim Nill for the next two seasons, but Nill hopes his involvement with the organization extends beyond that. On...
“He wants me to be a part of this for a ways down the road here, and in the end, I said ‘Tom, let’s do two years here,’” Nill said Tuesday morning in a phone interview. “I like where our organization is. Right now, the organization, we’re transitioning from a certain core to another core. I think those cores are going to come together and it’s going to make us a very effective team.
Nill and Gaglardi have been working on a succession plan for “the last four or five years,” Nill said. It was something Nill first mentioned over the summer, but it has not taken shape publicly. “I’m a big believer in hiring good people and promoting them, whether that’s internally [in Dallas] or externally [with another team],” Nill said. “I hope they have opportunities.”The Stars officially hired Ben Bishop as player development coordinator, a position that will allow the former goaltender to work with the team’s prospects.
Peverley previously worked as player development coordinator before his promotion last summer to director of player personnel.
