Dallas police released body camera video of a deadly shootout with 61-year-old Donathy Doddy. Police say he opened fire on officers as they approached.
Dallas police released body camera video on Wednesday of a deadly shootout with a man they saidWhat happens right before two officers fired 15 shots is hard to make out. But the video clearly depicts the chaos in the moments after shots were fired.
"There was an argument going on between individuals with one person with a gun," said Kristin Lowman, Dallas Police's Assistant Director of Public Information. Video shows the officers waving at people around Doddy to move away. Police say they saw a gun in his pocket. "They had a good angle at the time. There's not really any other way for them to have approached at that time," he said. "The individual then charged at them. Unfortunately, the individual did dictate this outcome."Garcia says it’s unclear who fired that shot, although he says the victim believed it came from Doddy's gun. An officer tried to assist him.

Dallas Police release video from Metropolitan Avenue shooting - KRLD NewsDallas Police have released body camera video of an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening near Fair Park. Police were called to reports of a fight on Metropolitan Avenue near Highway 352. Chief Eddie Garcia says officers arrived and recognized the suspect, Donathy Doddy. He says they had previous encounters with him. 'Officers gave the suspect loud, verbal commands to get his hands off the gun,' Garcia says. 'Doddy then ran toward the officers, firing his weapon at least two times as he ran in the officers' direction.'
