A North Texas school district is looking to expand its dual language program into more schools. Dallas ISD said it has one of the largest, if not the largest, dual language programs in the entire United States.
DALLAS — Dallas ISD has spots open right now to join its Dual Language Education ProgramIn the near future, the district will add dual language to more and more schools
“I think that it’s very important that we’re able to communicate and teach our kids a way to be able to communicate in the language,” Martinez said. “If you work in education, if you work in medical, there’s always a translator needed. So culture-wise, and it’s also important to me career-wise.” Dallas ISD has spots open right now to join its Dual Language Education Program. Richie Heffernan is the executive director of the district’s Dual Language and ESL Department. He said 33,000 students are enrolled right now, but soon, the district is expanding.
“So looking at expanding that, I think, is definitely an area where there is room for growth,” Heffernan said.“The cooking is different. The way they speak. The sounds. It’s so beautiful to learn different languages,” Martinez said.
