The county reported its first presumptive positive cases of the coronavirus on March 10, 2020. The outbreak was declared a pandemic the next day.

“Every life is precious and every death is an irreplaceable loss to those left behind,” County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement.on March 10, 2020Since then, North Texans have endured economic hardships, switched between remote and in-person work and school, weathered temporary shutdowns, received changing advice on face masks, and dealt with political fights over vaccine mandates.

On Friday, Dallas County reported 415 new cases of the disease, 325 of them confirmed and 90 probable. The numbers bring the county’s overall case total to 568,910, including 469,805 confirmed and 99,105 probable. The death toll is 6,004.
