The district expects to make a final determination and then inform the public after looking at the COVID-19 case numbers on Jan. 14.

Paul Vigna | [email protected] board, following almost three hours of discussion that included plenty of passionate input from the public, voted 5-3 with one abstention on Monday night to pass one of two alternatives to the current health and safety policy that requires masking.

Case numbers will be assessed on Jan. 14 and as long as they have not gotten out of line, the district will let its families know that day that the policy will change on the 17th. The board prior to that decision had talked about the option of tabling any action until its next meeting on Jan. 18, but that motion failed, 3-5, with one abstention.

A move to choose the other option under discussion, to go to masks-optional on Jan. 10, was introduced but not seconded.
