Patients at Nottingham's hospitals have been warned to expect delays
Patients across Nottingham have had blood test appointments cancelled due to disruption caused by a server failure across the city's hospitals. Nottingham University Hospitals is currently unable to process the tests through its computer systems and has declared a critical incident.
In correspondence seen by Nottinghamshire Live, local NHS leaders said urgent blood tests can be submitted using a manually written form and labels. However, they warned NUH has a "severely depleted" capacity to process them.One Nottingham GP said the disruption was causing "extra hassle" for patients, and could potentially lead to clinical harm.
In a message to GP practices, NHS Nottinghamshire said: "The server failure within the pathology IT system at NUH continues to be an issue today. This is due to an issue with the ICE interface and has led to the inability for samples labelled via ICE to be matched to patients and therefore these blood tests cannot be processed currently.
