England coach Matthew Mott has hinted at a possible white-ball return for Jason Roy following the humiliating defeat to South Africa

has emerged as a possible replacement for Reece Topley after the left-arm fast bowler was ruled out of the rest ofafter rupturing ankle ligaments days before the tournament in Australia began – has compounded the misery of England’s heaviest-ever ODI defeat.

Brydon Carse is a possible bowling option but with the rules not stipulating a like-for-like injury replacement it leaves England free to take a punt on Roy. Coach Matthew Mott hinted at a recall for Roy, who is on standby at home in Surrey, when he said he was looking at bringing in an “X-factor” player.
