The Country Thunder music festival in Craven is returning bigger and better than ever next week after a two\u002Dyear COVID hiatus.
The grounds near Craven have been mostly deserted since the last pre-pandemic festival in 2019. Although shows resumed south of the border last year — Country Thunder now comprises seven festivals in Canada and the U.S. —“This is the one that started them all,” said Blevins, who made the trip from Nashville to help oversee next week’s festivities . “Not being able to be here for a couple of years, personally, has been difficult.
“There’s tons of history on that site and we’re all a part of that,” she noted. “We’re all from here. It’s still the same group of people that are running this thing .” The facelift includes the 10,000-seat grandstands as well as upgraded bathrooms and repairs to the entire “main street.” Country Thunder has returned to its old format of opening the festival Thursday with live entertainment in the beer gardens instead of the main stage. The volleyball courts are still there, along with a lounge area for people to relax during the day.The SGI Safe Ride program is back with buses that depart from various locations in Regina and Moose Jaw .
