A car crash downed power lines, closed a road and plunged parts of northwest Harris County into darkness.A crash involving five vehicles plunged parts of northwest Harris County into darkness overnight and shuttered a roadway for hours while crews worked to restore downed power lines, officials said.
Around 11:30 p.m., several vehicles crashed into each other and forced one into a power line on Veteran Memorial Drive between Beltway 8 and Gears Road, Lt. Lisa Strong of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told On Scene reporters. No one was injured in the crash.The falling power line also brought down several other power lines across the road, which killed power to the neighborhood and businesses nearby, Strong said. As of around 6 a.m.
