The road is shut
The incident took place on Active Way at around 6.55am this morning . The road has been closed from Church Street.
Lancashire Police are at the scene and are urging motorists to avoid the area where possible. They have advised that visitors can leave the town centre via Church Street.Details of the collision are not known at this time. Traffic appears to be coping well with the closure. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Please be aware Active Way is closed from Church Street due to a road traffic collision. You will not be able to get into the town centre using this route.
"However you can go through Church Street to leave the town centre. Please avoid the area where possible. Thank you for your patience." Traffic monitoring website, INRIX, said: "A679 Active Way Westbound closed due to accident from School Lane to B6434 Royle Road. Traffic is coping well."
