Parsons, one of the NFL's most dominant defensive stars, is looking to gain an edge with offseason workouts in Austin.
Parsons reached out to Whitworth because he wanted to work with someone he described as “really elite at being my opponent.” Whitworth and Parsons watched tape on situational football and studied quarterback drops, along with the reasoning behind different pass blocking methods.and the avenues the young linebacker will take to do so.
“It’s rare to think that that’s the way he thinks, like, ‘I don’t want to just listen to guys who have done what I do, I want to know what the guy who goes against me does,’” Whitworth said. “I think that’s really cool, to think that his mind thinks that way.”Cowboys rookie running back Deuce Vaughn and Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase were also getting a few reps in. Whitworth was impressed by Vaughn’s ability to stay low and change direction.
Whitworth, who is a contributor for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football broadcasts, will get to see Parsons in action The former offensive tackle added that he was excited about the matchup between the Cowboys’ defense and Seattle’s young offensive line.“The Seahawks had some really good, young tackles last year in [Abraham] Lucas and [Charles] Cross,” Whitworth said. “I think Charles Cross showed that he could be a left tackle to look at for the future. He’s a really good player and a great pick for the Seahawks.
