Catherine and Paul had no idea who had previously lived in their house
A couple spent years restoring their home on a leafy, unadopted road before they discovered its fascinating past.
But it wasn’t until years later that Catherine discovered the property had a surprising connection to the Beatles that she never knew about.READ MORE: Terraced houses that are the last of their kind in Liverpool Catherine and Paul set about restoring the property to its former glory, knocking down walls and turning the flats into a five bedroom house. Catherine said: “It’s a beautifully proportioned house. We wanted to restore it to what it was. That meant ripping out three kitchens, three bedrooms and putting them somewhere else - stuff like that was a lot of work.”
Catherine said: “My husband always liked the Beatles. When I heard this book was coming out, I read in the ECHO about it I think, I thought I’ll get it for him as a present. “He said as the first tenant he got an allowance for decorating and furnishing it, which is astonishing now when you think about it. He was very happy here and it became a bit of a meeting place for young people in the Merseybeat scene, including the Beatles.
Despite her late husband’s love of the Beatles, Catherine said he had no idea of the connection their home had with the band until reading it in Joe's book, which has a chapter dedicated to the house itself.
