Permanently closing for of the facilities is one option being considered for consultation
In-patient services at four of the region’s cottage hospitals – including Kirkcudbright – were suspended four years ago during the coronavirus pandemic.
Today’s full council meeting will discuss a motion from Dee and Glenkens Councillor Dougie Campbell, who has been backing Save Kirkcudbright Hospital Action Group. The motion – seconded by Stranraer and the Rhins Councillor Willie Scobie – wants councillors to “support the protection of existing, local community-based NHS and social care services including: care at home, care homes, cottage hospitals, maternity services and dental services, from the threat of closure or reduction of provision”.
