Jason Zadrozny performed a version of A Day in the Life when discussing Nottingham's roads

Nottinghamshire's pothole-ridden roads continue to provide a creative outlet for the motorists juddering over them. Calendars have been created featuring some of Gedling's deepest craters and a party was even recently held in the area, where attendees shared pothole-themed cakes.

Councillor Zadrozny was discussing a plan by the Independent Alliance group to sell off a huge parcel of land in Toton, initially earmarked to form part of the HS2 hub station that was due to be put there. With HS2 now only running between London and Birmingham, the opposition group say the land should be sold and the £20 million generated should be invested into fixing Nottinghamshire potholes.

Resisting the urge to sing, Councillor Zadrozny opted for a spoken word performance as he recited the track's original lyrics: "I read the news today, oh boy. Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. And though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all. Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall."

"They say The Beatles wrote enduring songs but not many people know one of their most famous songs was about potholes." The Independent Alliance's plan to sell the Toton land is set to be voted down at the budget meeting, with both the Conservative and Labour groups against it.
