Council tax would need to rise by whopping 25% to plug Glasgow's budget gap
THE cost of plugging Glasgow’s budget gap would be £50 a month for each household if it was to be added toSusan Aitken, leader of the council, said the spending deficit just now, a week ahead of the budget, is £61 million.
“That’s around an extra £50 per month for the average B and D household. A hike of that magnitude would be unacceptable, particularly in the current crisis.” She added: “It won’t be happening. But it does show that the consequences of this budget will be severe and far-reaching, impacting on every household in the city.
