Perth and Kinross Council has defended a call not to close a North Inch floodgate until two days after a severe weather warning - as a review into the response is launched.
As a result at least 15 properties in Rose Terrace, Charlotte Street and Barossa Place, which all neighbour North Inch, have been devastated. There was fury when PKC initially claimed the Scottish Environment and Protection Agency’s warning about higher than predicted river levels arrived “too late” for it to close a North Inch floodgate in time.
“A visual inspection of levels was carried out however which confirmed that there was no risk of flooding from the river at that time.
