Fans of the ITV soap have been left wondering what was happening with the local watering hole after Jenny Connor was forced to sell
Coronation Street has confirmed the future of the Rovers Return revealing that it will reopen before the year is out - but with a 'ticking time bomb' buried beneath its grand return. Fans have been left wondering what was happening with the local watering hole after Jenny Connor was forced to sell.
All seemed well with Jenny able to continue running the pub with the help of her staff - Daisy Midgeley, Sean Tully, Glenda Shuttleworth and Gemma Winter-Brown. However, the jubilation didn't last long as they discovered Newton and Ridley were being sold to another company, Waterford Incorporated. Jenny later tried to re-apply for her job with Waterford's who were quick to turn her away and threatened her with legal action if she and her staff were ever to step foot in the pub again. She didn't listen, however, as she ended up the Rovers alongside Sarah Barlow when serial killer Stephen Reid struck earlier this month.
"The idea that the pub was boarded up was horrifying... so it's not going to stay closed for that long. In fact, it reopens on New Year's Eve," Iain revealed. "The interesting thing about it is the circumstances of it becoming open again are all tied up with Stephen Reid's legacy and somebody will do something that is, at best, naughty and, at worst, slightly criminal to get their hands on the keys to the pub and reopen it.
