Tommy Gillman was born on September 24, 2022 and died on December 8, 2022 at Leicester Royal Infirmary, just two months old
Nathanael Hartley, assistant coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, opened the inquest into the infant's death on Monday, October 16, at Nottingham Council House on Old Market Square. A post mortem investigation recorded the baby's cause of death as salmonella Brandenburg meningitis, an uncommon bacterial condition, the inquest heard.
The coroner's officer confirmed Tommy was identified by his mother at the hospital. Mr Hartley officially opened the inquest before adjourning it for the completion of further inquiries.It will be resumed for a final hearing on a date yet to be fixed. Mr Hartley added: "The final thing for me to do is offer my very sincere condolences to Tommy's family and friends in relation to their very sad loss.
