The debate over pyro has cropped up again after a night of Premiership controversy at Dens Park
Anxious cops and league bosses were locked in urgent talks yesterday amid fears that pyro wielding fans might target Hampden this weekend.
And Record Sport understands the authorities are ‘not optimistic’ as they brace themselves for further off-field controversy over the next 72 hours. Rangers manager Phillipe Clement pleaded with the club’s supporters to bin all pyros in the immediate aftermath of his side’s win on Tayside. “Despite robust practice by all clubs in the SPFL and the SFA at Hampden, flares, offensive banners and singing of sectarian songs continue to be a problem all across our game in Scottish Football. As we are working with the authorities we are unable to comment on the situation at this time. The club will comment further once the ongoing investigation has taken place and concluded.”
