MARTINEZ — Weeks after a judge ordered sanctions against the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office for a “bad faith” tactic in a federal suit alleging gender and age discrimination against five female prosecutors, the office agreed to settle for $2.2 million, court records show.
The lead plaintiff, longtime senior prosecutor Mary Knox, ran for DA against Becton in June and lost by 12 points. Spero ordered the DA’s office to pay “reasonable fees” to compensate for the legal work the plaintiffs spent fighting the office’s motions to seal transcripts and keep them out of the public docket.
