Aslef revealed today that its train driver members working for LNER will strike on Saturday, April 20 and refuse to work non-contractual overtime from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21.
Strikes on 16 operators across three days of tomorrow, Saturday and Monday. Then on Saturday, drivers will walk out from six operators - Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway, LNER, Heathrow Express, Northern and TransPennine Express. On days where an overtime ban is in place, the timetable for some train companies may be revised in advance or services may be subject to short-notice delay or cancellation on the day. 'Drivers wouldn't vote for industrial action, again and again and again, if they thought that was a good offer. That offer was dead in the water in April last year and Mr Harper knows that.

'Operators' guiding principle is always to make sure they can offer the best, most reliable services possible for their passengers on and around industrial action days, and to do that they need to make careful assessments of their own particular operational circumstances before deciding the best way forward.'
'LNER trains for Saturday, April 20 will be taken off-sale while we work out how this action affects our timetable.'Mr Whelan said: 'Train drivers are fed up with the bad faith shown by this company, probably at the behest of the Transport Secretary, Mark Harper, and the rail minister, Huw Merriman, and we are not prepared to put up with being bullied and pushed about by a company that thinks it can break agreements whenever it feels like it.
An official said: 'Management have confirmed that they have disbanded their 'Trains Modernisation' team and will not be implementing their plans to change drivers' working arrangements without agreement.Nick Dent, director of customer operations for London Underground, said: 'We are pleased that Aslef has withdrawn its planned industrial action on Monday, April 8 and Saturday, May 4.
On Friday, April 5, 'only travel if the journey is essential'. On Sunday, April 7, all trains at the southern end of the route will be 'exceptionally busy'.Services set to be extremely busy on Saturday, April 6 - so 'please only travel if essential'. Changes to timetables between Thursday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 9.Possible short-notice cancellations on Thursday, April 4; Saturday, April 6; Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9.
