It’s been a challenging four years for businesses in Alexandria, with the Covid-19 lockdowns followed by roadworks that effectively brought the town to a standstill last year.
An Alexandria business chief has called on locals to back the town’s new market and help breathe fresh life into the Vale.
She told the Lennox: “Mitchell Way being down is a positive. It’s taken so long and it was a total eyesore. The response to the markets held so far has been mixed, but Sian hopes that more locals will pop down for a spot of shopping – and return to old routines in the process. “The markets so far have been a bit hit or miss. We’ve moved to a different stall hire company who are very willing to be promotional of the event, which is very helpful.“It’s all about momentum and really getting the community behind these events.
“We have an amazing site in the centre of Alexandria where there should be plenty of footfall, the challenge is just getting people to come along.”
