The local community are pulling together and have already raised more than £5000 through a fundraising appeal set up by local garage Spannerama
The East Kilbride community is rallying round to help six heartbroken families affected by unimaginable loss after a huge blaze destroyed their homes.

Fortunately residents were safely evacuated with no reported injuries, however families - some of whom have lived in the street for 40 years - now face the frightening prospect of being left homeless while their homes are rebuilt.They wrote on their Facebook page: "Please share and help. Fundraising for the families of the fire in Whitehills has started, anyone want to donate drop me a message. I will start it off with £500.
A spokesperson said: "For the people who have lost their homes in the Whitehills fire last night, please reach out to us when you have your accommodation sorted. We are wanting to give you a free carpet and fitting and 45 per cent off the rest of your flooring coverings. The post read: "We have been approached by some of the families affected by the devastating fire yesterday. We urgently require the following immediately to help them: bedding, clothes, toiletries, gents clothes XL tops/jacket/jumpers, ladies clothes size 24.
"As always the team here at Share Alike have the well-being of the community in their heart. We know that our absolutely fantastic service users and supporters will dig deep to help others at this time."SNP Councillor Geri Gray, East Kilbride South, said: "Absolutely shocked and saddened to see the dreadful fire on Friday evening that destroyed so many properties, and my heart goes out the people affected.
