House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) will pursue visitor logs from former Vice President Mike Pence and threatened to subpoena financial records from the Biden family.
Comer previously sought visitor logs from President Joe Biden to investigate the discovery of classified documents that largely stemmed from his vice presidency days but defended his decision not to seek the same from former President Donald Trump due to special counsel Jack Smith's investigation."We're going to treat Pence exactly the same way that we're treating Joe Biden. With Trump, it's a whole different deal. There's a formal special prosecutor.
"I'm against both special counsels. I said, when they appointed the special counsel, 'We don't need a special counsel,'" Comer replied."These special counsels never materialize. They take forever. They operate behind closed doors. There's no transparency. I believe that our Oversight Committee or congressional investigative committees can do much better."
In addition to investigating the classified files, Comer also disclosed that his panel is"in the process" of trying to obtain financial information about the Biden family, particularly Hunter Biden. He warned that if the Treasury Department fails to turn over those records, his panel may issue subpoenas.
