Clouds clear out this morning as a high-pressure system settles into the region. Sunshine is on tap through the afternoon and early evening hours. Despite the sun, temperatures are cooler behind the low-pressure system with highs in the low to mid 50s.
Clear skies and calm winds will allow for temperatures to plunge into the low 30s tonight. With freezing temperatures and scattered frost possible, the National Weather Service issued Freeze Watches and Warnings for Central Ohio. Communities from along and southwest of Kenton, Newark, and Athens are currently under a Freeze Warning while the rest of the viewing area remains under Freeze Watch.
Give yourself time to warm up and defrost your car Monday morning. Temperatures will rebound into the low 60s in the afternoon with plenty of sunshine. The high-pressure system remains in control of the area through at least Wednesday with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures. Highs will be warmer in the low 70s by Tuesday.
Clouds stream back into the region by Wednesday ahead of our next weather maker. There are some disagreements in the models on whether the passage will be wet or dry as the front comes through. For now, we will keep a chance for rain showers on Friday and Saturday.
