The hope and potential associated with this space for the the congregation has risen out of the rubble of a trauma it faced six years ago. Miracle — who supervised picking out the fixtures, having volunteers stain and sand 49 doors, and working with others to design each of the rooms in the 10,000-square-foot building — said it feels like the congregation is finally home."To know that this is really our home was such a wonderful, great feeling," she said."This always felt like home, the church that was here," Faulkner, 58, of Hilliard, said.
Now that the congregation is back in Franklinton — a neighborhood that has changed and grown in recent years — center leaders hope to welcome local people into the building to use its community room, classroom and other facilities for different events.The fire gave the congregation an opportunity to reach out to others and make connections throughout Greater Columbus — with people of other faiths as well as city officials, Miracle said.
