The Colorado Rapids will be out one promising center back for multiple weeks, but called in another Tuesday.
The Rapids announced Tuesday they had recalled 22-year-old center back Michael Edwards from a season-long loan with USL Championship side San Antonio FC. Edwards left for San Antonio on loan Feb. 24, where he was expected to earn minutes with the second-division side, but 11 days later, he’s back in Burgundy. In that timespan, Gustavo VallecillaEdwards is a promising center back whose Homegrown Player rights were acquired from D.C. United in 2021. He was previously with Wolfsburg II in Germany.
Edwards will be available for selection against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday at Pay Pal Park. Colorado kicks off in the Bay at 8:30 p.m. MST and the game will be available to watch on Apple TV. Elsewhere on the injury chart, the team official confirmed Rapids captain Jack Price is still week-to-week with a back injury. Price has not played in either of the two league games thus far.
