Coca-Cola Consolidated breaks ground on a new 400,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse facility in Columbus. Oct. 23, 2023. Coca-Cola broke ground Monday on a new $100 million, 400,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse facility in Columbus.
Sam Meiner, Coca-Cola Consolidated’s Market Unit Vice President and General Manager in Ohio, said the investment in new facilities is estimated to generate $2.3 million in local tax dollars. The company said in July that 325 employees will transfer from its current location to the new site that's part of the Rickenbacker Industrial Center in south Columbus. Twelve new full-time jobs are also planned for the new location.
The new facility will be comprised of three buildings, including a new equipment services facility and a new fleet shop for its transportation subsidiary Red Classic Transit, Coca-Cola said. At the groundbreaking, Coca-Cola Consolidated also presented a $5,000 donation to “A Kid Again,” a Columbus non-profit that provides adventure to families with children facing life-threatening illnesses.
