Ards and North Down Borough Council gave go-ahead despite a number of objections
Elected representatives at Ards and North Down Borough Council this week gave the green light to a planning application for the relocation and redevelopment of Bangor Central Integrated Primary School, to provide a new 22 class primary school building and recreational areas.
A council officer said at the Planning Committee meeting: “In September 2020 the Education Authority announced that a new school would be built for Bangor Central Integrated Primary, with a proposed opening date for this new state-of-the-art integrated school of 2025 on the Balloo Road in Bangor. It is intended that this school will be built without any disruption to the pupils in the existing primary school.
There were no objections from any of the statutory consultees. The council received 10 letters of objection and three letters of support. The officer report responds: “Car parking spaces are provided based on the Department for Infrastructure Parking Standards calculations. Applicants are not expected to provide a parking space for every vehicle entering the site. Internal configuration has been designed with child safety and efficient vehicular manoeuvrability in mind.
