Dean Todd, of Garscadden View, Clydebank, pleaded guilty in January to assault and striking the woman on the body to her injury.
The 28-year-old returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on March 19 for sentencing after the original charge was significantly reduced.
Prosecutors had previously said how on May 24, 2022, Todd had gone to a property in the town's Glendevon Place where he was drinking with a pal and a woman.A target was set up in the living room for Todd to shoot at - and he instead pointed it at the woman and fired three shots at her body. Two hit her left hip and the third hit her upper left quad.At sentencing, defence solicitor Scott Adair said:"What happened that night what was he and his pal had effectively done to each other.
The sheriff told Todd that the impact could have been far different and condemned his"utter disregard for other people".Todd was put on a community payback order with supervision by social workers for 15 months.
