Two nights after a cold-shooting game against the Knicks, the short-handed Clippers shoot a season-worst 35.5% and fall, 112-97, on the road.
It was another chill effort from the Clippers on Tuesday night, and not in the good way.
The Clippers’ two-game skid comes after they’d reeled off five consecutive victories, including a pair over the Lakers, who are currently ninth in the Western Conference standings at 28-36. And it would’ve been uglier still if not for Batum, who shot 6 for 11 and had his highest-scoring game since he put up 18 points in a loss at Phoenix on Feb. 15.
“The young guys came in and did a great job, Semi did a good job along with Rodney,” Lue said. “It was good to see. They made a good run at it but it was tough to come back from that many points down.” “We had a good first quarter, we started the game pretty well, especially on defense,” Batum said. “We didn’t make shots, but at least defense was decent. But … in the second quarter, we had no physicality. We didn’t touch them, we don’t really fight.”
