The Akron RubberDucks postponed their game Monday night because of a citywide curfew imposed during protests over the police shooting of Jayland Walker on June 27.CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Akron RubberDucks postponed their Monday night game because of a citywide curfew as protests continue following the police shooting of Jayland Walker, a decision that has the support of the Class AA team’s parent club.

“The Cleveland Guardians are saddened by the tragic shooting of Jayland Walker that occurred in Akron,” the Guardians said in a. “As an organization, we are committed to uniting and inspiring our city and making a positive impact in our broader community. We urge peace and togetherness in support of those suffering in Akron.

“As a result of the city of Akron’s citywide curfew declared by the mayor, and out of respect for our players, fans, and those who are mourning, we support the decision to postpone tonight’s Akron RubberDucks game against the Altoona Curve.The RubberDucks and Curve are scheduled off on Tuesday. The series is scheduled to resume at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Canal Park in Akron.
