“We’re fortunate,” Head said. “We’ve got good depth at running back and receiver, we’ve got a variety of guys we can roll through, and we have confidence they can step up and make plays when needed.” Clear Falls scored 21 points in 2:48 to take control in the first half. Smith placed the Knights on the board with a 16-yard run, cutting Heights’ early lead to 8-7 with 1:05 left in the first quarter. Then, after a three-and-out by Heights, quarterback Landon Vessel found Proctor downfield on the first play of the next drive for a 60-yard TD.That error set up a quick scoring drive Tarver capped with a 3-yard run with 10:17 showing in the second quarter.
“We kept rolling,” Head said. “I was proud of how our guys responded. We didn’t get down. Yeah, we gave up a score, that’s fine. Respond, come back, put it in the end zone, take advantage of opportunities, and we did that.”The Bulldogs tried to punt but a bad snap forced punter Shawn Haenicke-Prevost to run for it, and he came up 1 yard short of a first down, giving Clear Falls excellent field position.
