After posting a 3-18 record last year, the Clear Brook softball team wasn’t on anyone’s radar to reach the Class 6A playoffs this spring.“My goal was not to finish last,” Cave said, “and then I was having a conversation one night with my husband, and he said, ‘Wouldn’t it be crazy if y’all made the playoffs?’Clear Brook has all but risen from the ashes in advancing to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
“She treated us as individuals. We do a lot of stuff together like going to Top Golf, and we all have lunch in our room together. “We knew we would get pushed hard, but we also knew Coach Cave wasn’t going to be on the field doing it for us,” Brister said. “Accountability has become a big thing here, too. The girls play hard and with a lot of passion. The credit goes to them.
