White vinegar is a popular cleaning product but there are a few areas around the home where it should be avoided, according to an expert
White vinegar is a popular cleaning agent due to its acetic acid content, which can remove dirt, grease and limescale. However, cleaning expert Sarah Dempsey from Myjobquote.co.uk has warned that it should 'never be used' on certain items in your home.
1. Washing machine: While many people use white vinegar to clean their washing machines or aid in washing, it can actually cause damage. This is because of the rubber seals and hoses in the machine. Instead, a specialist washing machine cleaning product should be used. 2. Stone worktops: If you have stone or marble worktops, avoid using white vinegar as it can dull and etch natural stone, causing it to lose its shine and potentially damaging it.3. Mirrors: Although white vinegar is effective for cleaning windows, it should not be used on mirrors.Instead, just use a microfibre cloth and a bit of glass spray."Instead, it's better to use dishwasher cleaners as these are specially formulated to do the job of cleaning your dishwasher well.
