NottinghamshireLive readers have been debating the fiery topic of the city's carbon footprint.
Nottingham's plans to become a carbon neutral city by 2028 are hanging by a thread as the council face tremendous financial pressures. The authority is "in two minds" over a clean air zone, it has been revealed by leader David Mellen - and NottinghamshireLive readers have been wading in on the subject.
The review noted the council may be forced to consider “harder and more controversial actions” - including the creation of clean air zones, within which some vehicles are charged if they don’t meet emissions standards. Foghorn007 wrote: "If they are in two minds about it then it's obviously not needed, because if it was needed then they would go ahead, me thinks they worried about public reaction." Bigbobnffc said: "Would sooner have safer streets than clean air."
Downtoearth1 said: "No city can become carbon neutral in such a short time without throwing silly money at it, but it seems they were prepared to do that and have already started."
