Steve Clarke has revealed discussions over national team call-ups for Harvey Barnes and Elliot Anderson are"not a conversation" for him going forward.Instead, Anderson joined the squad for training ahead of the match against Cyprus before pulling out days later.
Now, after qualifying for Euro 2024, Clarke was again quizzed on potential to draft the duo into the Scotland fold. But he stopped the conversation after defeat to France, instead hailing his already impressive Scotland pool.“I like the fact they turn up every time and sometimes they don’t get minutes on the pitch and yet they still come and they still support the rest of the lads.
“So I like what I have. But I’m never going to close my eyes and ears to something or someone that might improve us in the future.” Further pressed on Anderson and Barnes' chances at joining the Scotland squad, Clarke replied: “It’s not a conversation for now.“That’s not a conversation for tonight. It’s not really a conversation for me going forward.
“Like I say, I like the squad I’ve got.
