For a Supreme Court justice he owns a surprising amount of cabana wear.Clarence Thomas likes the finer things in life. What is a dedicated public servant to do, not go on lavish trips furnished by a billionaire? Justice Thomas makes a government salary, he can’t afford his own super yacht, so obviously he has to rely on wealthy benefactors to meet his daily recommended allowance of opulence.
The identity of Thomas’ patron has been revealed as billionaire Harlan Crow, who judging by his name made his fortune through a combination of cattle rustling and owning the haunted theme parks on Scooby Doo. Wait, I just checked, it’s real estate. Same difference. If I have to explain why having a billionaire lavish expensive trips on a Supreme Court justice is bad, well, you’ve clearly stumbled upon this blog by mistake. The decades-long relationship between Thomas and Crow spanning dozens of trips is a stark reminder of the lack of accountability enjoyed by justices with lifetime appointments to the court.
